Performing My Civic Doodie

I've already deferred twice, so today has me catching-up on my reading while sitting in the Alameda County Courthouse on a jury summons. Given the crime rate here in Oakland (and apparently the dearth of registered voters), I sometimes feel like I get called every six months. If I were allowed to bring a computer, you bet your ass I'd be blogging from the courthouse.

Hope your day is more enjoyable.

When I was living Bezerkely, I was summoned but moved to San Jose so I got out of it. Then 2 years later was summoned when I lived in Davis but moved to Pennsylvania, and got out of it yet again. lol

I scared to go back to CA, mostly because I have unpaid moving violation fines (I wore headphones while biking *gasp*... I think its up to $800 now).

i got the fucking ticket a week before I was moving out of the state! Some bullshit bike cop with nothing better to do. No warnings, just a "you should have read the rules in our city when you moved here" bullshit.

I never heard anything for 3 years, then got letters and calls from an independent collecting agency, which I subsequently ignored. They couldn't coherently explain to me why they were collecting the money and not Yolo county. Apparently they are contracted i guess. Whatever. Funny thing is, I'm looking for jobs right now and might have to end up moving back to CA! LOL

Hopefully I can just pay the fine, or not drive. I was morally against the fine. Wearing headphones while biking is no different than playing loud music in your car with the windows rolled up. hmpf.
